I had a Dallas Date Day
We went to the fall event at the Dallas Arboretum. They had a series of pumpkin houses designed for various bugs (butterflies, bees, ants, and spiders!). They were absolutely adorable, and I had the best time looking at how they had set everything up.
They also had a line of different pumpkin varieties set up, and it was crazy to see how different some looked. Then, we walked around the gardens and saw all of the water features. Several gardens were attracting a lot of monarch butterflies--it felt like I was in a butterfly exhibit, but it is all open air, and they had come there naturally. It was just magical to be part of. The gardens also overlook White Rock Lake, and just past it is the Dallas skyline. It is a gorgeous backdrop to each lunch. We didn’t have this foresight (Fort Worth would never allow it now), but many people brought blankets, board games, and a picnic and spent the entire afternoon there. What a wonderful way to spend the day!
We then went over to Hillstone and met up with one of my friends. Hillstone had been HIGHLY recommended to me by friends at work, and they were on point! I had the Thai Noodles and Chicken Salad--it was divine! It had a great mixture of noodles, glazed rotisserie chicken, peanuts, and tomatoes. Andrew had a cheeseburger, and they brought out spicy. The burger has a lot more on it than is listed on the menu and stands very tall. His fries were delicious (just the right amount of crunchy and salty!), and the spicy mayo had great flavor (much more complicated than you would typically get at a sushi restaurant.) I also had the Bee’s Knees to celebrate finally reuniting. While I’m not typically a gin girl, I am a sucker for a good Bee’s Knees. The whole atmosphere of Hillstone is great-there are clever sculptures and artwork on the walls and 5-star service. I could not think of a better place to go for a date day (or night!) it was a great experience. Check out my TikTok for video of it all!
