I went to Utah

I went to Salt Lake City for my best friend Jess' bachelorette party and wedding this summer!

Some things to know- Utah is absolutely gorgeous and there is so much nature to explore there! SLC airport is under lots of construction and kind of a mess. There are lots of moving walkways, but it took me 20 minutes of power walking to get from my gate to outside to catch my uber. The rideshare situation is very organized and easy to use, they have great markers all around for that. In the newer parts (further out parts) of the airport, there are fewer shops and restaurants so go ahead and stop earlier before going to your gate if you have time.

I stayed in a hotel downtown across from the arena. There were tons of cute little shops and restaurants all around and even a fairly large park. Plenty of activities to keep me busy. One meal that sticks out was Sushi Burrito and I had the deep-fried California sumo...it was insanely huge and felt like a hug. Not at all like Wasabi Juan’s in Birmingham, but delicious in its own way--I was not disappointed despite my high sushi burrito standards.

We went to the coolest restaurant called Prohibition for dinner. If you want to know about the show (or are considering going) I recommend looking that up! It was basically a restaurant and bar set in the prohibition era. You walk in through a tiny antique shop and when your table is ready, they bring you into the restaurant through a secret door! I nearly walked out when I came in because I thought I was in the wrong place (and only stayed because I saw my friend Miranda!) It was such a good time.

The food at Prohibition was insanely good. We got the bootlegger nachos (so creamy, lots of flavor, perfectly cooked tortilla chips!) and I had the salmon risotto for my main. They thankfully did the risotto without the mushrooms and it was perfectly cheesy! I had a huge serving that I could have probably made 3 meals but I literally could not stop myself from eating--I cleaned the plate. I don’t remember what cocktails we got other than I had one with jalapenos in it which was a tad too spicy for me (I have a pretty mild tolerance!) and Miranda had one that was Beauty and the Beast themed and came out smoking on a platter with a rose on top--so cool!

We went back to a sweet girl’s apartment and played lots of fun games and gave Jess tons of advice. I only knew a couple of the girls before the party and by the end, we were all friends! (Pictures are from like 3 a.m.--How did we all survive?)

Jess’ wedding was absolutely gorgeous. Every time I visit Utah, I am absolutely stunned at the vastness of nature and the beauty of it all.
