I went on a walk and talk
A walk and talk was my bread and butter through school.

When I get stressed, I am horrible at both exercising and keeping up with my friends. I went to school out of state, so it seems like my heart is missing the sweetest gals.
Enter the walk and talk. It’s exactly what it sounds like. In school, sometimes I’d go on a walk with my school best friends, and back home, I either go with my home best friends or my mom. Usually, though, I go on a walk and get off some steam and within five minutes call one of my besties that are hours away to catch up. It’s amazing because I can talk for hours without blinking, so I will walk for miles without even noticing that I’m working out. This is perfect for the days when you don’t want to do anything healthy because walking in the fresh air clears your head, and getting in a girl chat fills up your heart.
I definitely recommend setting aside a time so that you don’t keep pushing it off until “tomorrow” forever. Now that my schedule is more predictable and the same every day, I go every day after dinner. Setting aside time for a walk and talk takes out the bargaining with myself, and after dinner, I am ready and excited for the walk rather than second-guessing whether TikTok would be a better use of my time (it never is.)
Level 2 of the walk and talk is where you can add weights. I got a pair for about $25, and each strap has 5 one-lb weights that you can remove individually. I’ve worked my way up to 3 lbs each, and I can wear the weights about two times a week. You will definitely feel the difference, and it does make my legs sore. I also do not think this is the best option for bad joints, so be aware of that. Overall though, for a cheap and easy at-home sweat, I couldn’t recommend this more.
The thing about going for a walk is it is free (no money guilt), it is at your convenience (no session you have to rush to make), and you can go for as short or long as you need (it will fit your schedule, even if you can only squeeze in 10 minutes.) Even if you think you don’t even have 10 minutes to spare for a walk, look up the research on how your brain performs. I personally noticed that the tests I did the best on were the ones I squeezed in time for a walk the day before. The little bit of time getting fresh oxygen into your system will make you so much more productive, and what you do the rest of the day will benefit from it way over and above what you could have gotten done in that time.
Rating: 10/10- a great free way to keep you active and clear your brain! If you’re not regularly sweating, you will be shocked at how much more productive and happy you are after incorporating a walk and talk into your routine.
No excuses, get moving and sweat today!
